Oatmeal porridge with caramelized bananas will be a perfect start of the day for you or for your kids. When I get enough of simple oatmeal porridge and want to make it somehow tastier, most of the time, I choose peanut butter, bananas, nuts, seeds, syrups or something like that. But when I want something special – I choose caramelized bananas. Don’t be afraid, the process is really simple and easy, you will need only a few products. Cook porridge as you like. I boiled oatmeal in water with a bit of milk, so porridge would be softer. That is the reason why I’m using semi-processed oatmeal because caramelized banana in friable porridge just wouldn’t be so special.

Heat coconut oil in a frying pan over medium heat. Add maple syrup, vanilla, cinnamon and mix everything. When the syrup is boiled (bubbles will appear) add sliced banana.

Caramelize banana on both sides for a few minutes. The longer you caramelize, the softer banana will be.

After receiving the desired result, place banana slices on an oatmeal, pour remaining syrup on top.
